About The Position

Uniqlo is hiring a Retail Alterations Specialist for its Michigan Avenue location in Chicago. The specialist alters pants to customers’ specifications, using knowledge of fabrics, sewing, fashion, and the marketplace. The role involves sewing hems with industrial machines, trimming excess threads, measuring and cutting fabric, and fitting pant hemlines to individual customers.

The position offers full-time and part-time schedules. Full-time availability averages 32 or more hours per week based on business seasonality, with open weekend availability and availability restrictions limited to two days per week. Part-time employees must have at least 12 hours of availability per week. The role requires schedule flexibility to meet business needs, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least six months of prior sewing or fitting experience in an alterations or tailoring department.
• Working knowledge of sewing machines such as lock stitch, blind stitch, and serge machines.
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets business needs, including evenings and weekends.
• Full-time availability: average of 32 or more hours per week based on business seasonality; open weekend availability (religious exemptions will be considered); availability restrictions limited to two days per week; and minimum availability of 12 hours per week.
• Part-time availability: minimum of 12 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Sew pants hems using an industrial sewing machine.
• Trim excess threads using scissors.
• Measure, cut, and sew hems according to seams, edges, or markings on pants.
• Alter pant hemlines to fit individual customers.
• Maintain specified productivity guidelines.
