About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL team truck driver in Danville, Virginia, for regional routes delivering packing supplies to Colorado, California, Utah, and the Central U.S. The position is no-touch freight and uses a sleeper tractor with a 48- or 53-foot dry van. Drivers leave Sunday or Monday and return Friday or Saturday; start times vary. Weekly pay is advertised at $2,000–$2,200, with team mileage, stop, and drop-and-hook pay. Ryder also offers sign-on and loyalty bonuses and paid training. Drivers operate Ryder trucks that are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The role includes maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations, identifying safety hazards, keeping accurate records and logs, and loading or unloading freight or assisting when required by the customer. Drivers may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check and road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading, if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
