About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver for local routes within 50 miles of Sarasota, Florida. The role is on call as needed, with a 6:00 PM start time, weekly pay of $28.50 per hour, and paid training. Drivers deliver solo and return home daily. The posting describes the position as part time and also notes a full-time opportunity based on seniority. The driver operates a day cab with a 48- or 53-foot dry van and must be able to operate a manual transmission. Freight consists of donated goods and may require hands-on loading and unloading. Equipment includes a manual pallet jack, lift gate, and hand truck; Ryder provides training on equipment needed for the job. Trucks are described as well-maintained and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol information from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Be able to operate a manual transmission.

Responsibilities

Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
