Local CDL A Truck Driver
About The Position
Würth Baer Supply Company is hiring a direct, permanent CDL-A Driver at its Guilderland Center, New York location to make customer deliveries. The role involves loading and securing a 26-foot curtain-side truck, delivering goods to approximately 5 to 10 stops per day, and providing customer service. Products include woodworking and cabinetry supplies, with this branch primarily handling plywood and sheet goods. Drivers use a sit-down propane forklift and may also load and unload materials by hand. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, or until the daily route is complete. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours and is typically limited, with work generally close to a 40-hour week. Compensation is $30 to $33 per hour, based on experience, with a potential $2,000 performance bonus paid in two installments to drivers in good standing. The company describes the role as steady, year-round work.
Requirements
- Hold a valid CDL-A.
- Hold a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Have a safe driving record (MVR).
- Be legally authorized and proficient to drive manual-transmission vehicles, including 10-speed trucks, although an automatic vehicle will be driven most of the time.
- Be comfortable wearing a company uniform and protective footwear, such as composite- or steel-toe footwear.
Responsibilities
- Load the truck using a sit-down propane forklift and by hand as needed.
- Secure the load to ensure safe travel between delivery stops.
- Deliver goods to approximately 5 to 10 customer stops daily and pass goods to customers by hand.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate customer questions or concerns to management as needed.
- Use the Samsara Electronic Logging Device on a company cell phone for pre-trip inspections and DOT-compliant on-duty status in place of paper logs.
