About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Cedar Falls, Iowa, for a part-time local route. Drivers deliver solo to Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, and are home daily. The work uses a day-cab tractor and a 53-foot dry van, carrying no-touch retail merchandise. The schedule varies, with start times between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Paid training is provided, and Ryder reimburses endorsement costs and provides training support for endorsements. The role offers weekly pay of $0.56 per solo mile and $13 per solo stop, with advertised weekly pay of $500 or more. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are responsible for operating safely and complying with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines. They maintain accurate records and logs, identify and minimize safety hazards, and load or unload freight—or assist with loading and unloading—if required by the customer. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
