About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This local, no-touch auto-parts driving role provides daily home time and solo deliveries within 500–600 miles. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor with a 53-foot dry van trailer and must have strong backing skills. Trucks are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The schedule is Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday. Drivers must be open to an AM or PM start time because of the bid system. Pay is weekly, with a guaranteed $1,415 per week. Additional incentives include a sign-on bonus of $1,000 at 30 days and $1,000 at 90 days, a $2,000 shutdown bonus within the first year, and a safety bonus of up to $250 per quarter if applicable. The company describes drivers as having autonomy to make safety decisions and provides support throughout their careers. The role may involve loading or unloading freight, or assisting with it, if required by the customer.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Have strong backing skills.

Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading, if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
