About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Rochester, New York. This local position pays $20.00 per hour, with weekly pay of $800 or more, and offers a Monday–Friday schedule beginning at 8:00 AM. Drivers are home daily and shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities. Freight is no-touch, consisting of empty trailers for equipment shuttle transfer movement. Drivers operate well-maintained, safe trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The role is primarily responsible for safely driving a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations, participating in continuous training, and providing customer service. Drivers are responsible for making safety decisions, and Ryder states that their jobs are protected when they do so. Additional duties include following applicable laws and regulations, identifying and minimizing safety hazards, maintaining accurate records and logs, and completing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle in compliance with safety and DOT regulations.
• Participate in continuous training and provide customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.
