About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is a local, no-touch auto-parts driving role with daily home time, delivering solo within a 500–600-mile area. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor pulling a 53-foot dry van. The schedule is Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday, with an AM or PM start time determined by a bid system. Drivers must have strong backing skills. Ryder advertises weekly pay of at least $1,415, with a weekly guarantee, a sign-on bonus, a shutdown bonus, and a quarterly safety bonus if applicable. Drivers operate well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The role includes medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days; PTO accrual starting on the first day; uniforms and a boot allowance; and additional benefits and incentives described below.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Have strong backing skills.
Be open to an AM or PM start time due to the bid system.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
