About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Front Royal, Virginia. The driver delivers solo on regional routes through Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Delaware, North Carolina, and New Jersey. The position uses sleeper tractors and dry van or reefer trailers to transport food freight. Freight is no-touch. The schedule is Sunday through Friday, with no weekends, and start times between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The role offers weekly pay averaging $1,595 or more, paid training, and a sign-on bonus paid in two installments. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and access to fueling at more than 800 maintenance locations nationwide. Drivers are responsible for safe, compliant operation and may make safety decisions on the road. Ryder describes the role as a company-driver position and offers support during the transition from owner-operator work and throughout a driver's career. Hazmat endorsement is preferred. An auto restriction can be accommodated.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
