About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver for local, solo deliveries from Langhorne, Pennsylvania, to Pennsylvania, New York City, and the five boroughs. The route is local and home daily, with a Monday–Friday schedule and no weekends. Dispatch starts between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Drivers use a day cab and a 45- to 60-foot flatbed trailer to transport steel and metal freight, with load securement required. The flatbed assignment requires six months of experience. Drivers are paid weekly, with a weekly guarantee of $1,500. Compensation also includes solo mileage pay of $0.5565 per mile, averaging 1,200–1,400 miles per week; solo stop pay of $21.19 per stop, averaging 30 stops per week; and separate dispatch pay for New York City and Long Island. Paid training is provided. Ryder trucks are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Have six months of experience for the flatbed assignment.
Some positions may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle record checks, road tests, or customer-specific badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading when required by the customer.
