About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Chicago, Illinois. This solo regional driving position delivers packaging material to Atlanta using a sleeper tractor and 53-foot dry van trailer. Freight is no-touch. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with dispatch between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Drivers are paid weekly and receive paid training. The posting advertises earnings of $2,100 or more per week, with pay components including solo mileage, stop pay, and per diem. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
