About The Position

This outpatient-focused RN role involves coordinating perioperative care for endoscopy and surgery patients, supporting fast-paced patient turnover, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient care. Emphasis on preop and PACU Phase II workflows, patient education, and EPIC documentation.

Requirements

Active California Registered Nurse license (required)
BSN degree preferred
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS from an approved vendor per policy (required)
Experience: at least 2 years of recent RN experience in outpatient/perioperative/outpatient surgery; endoscopy experience strongly preferred; comfortable with preop and PACU Phase II workflows; moderate sedation and rapid turnover experience is a plus
Knowledge/skills: EPIC experience preferred; ability to work in a high-volume outpatient surgery environment; strong critical thinking and teamwork
Education: BSN preferred; relevant perioperative/endoscopy experience acceptable as equivalent

Responsibilities

Deliver coordinated nursing care for outpatient surgical and endoscopy patients according to standards of care and the nursing process; monitor preoperative, intraoperative, and PACU Phase II care as assigned.
Develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications, monitor responses, and collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, and other disciplines to maintain safe patient flow and throughput.
Provide preoperative education and postoperative discharge instructions to patients and families; participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
Supervise and direct activities of nursing staff within the unit; delegate tasks appropriately while maintaining a safe, healing environment.
Document care in the electronic health record (EPIC); uphold infection control, safety, and privacy practices; respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate as needed.
