About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse assignment in the Emergency Department (ER) located in Middlebury, Vermont. The assignment is for 16-26 weeks, with a start date of 09/14/2026. The role is in a hospital-based ED setting characterized by a high-volume, fast-paced environment. It requires strong critical care skills and effective collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Extension opportunities may be available based on unit needs.

Requirements

Active RN license (state-specific licensure as applicable)
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC required; TNCC or proof of class with date; NIHSS required prior to start
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
2 years in the ED or related specialty
At least 1 prior travel assignment
EPIC experience within the past 2 years
Holiday availability: ability to work 2 of the 4 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day)

Responsibilities

Provide direct, professional nursing care to ED patients across the newborn to geriatric population
Perform triage using the ESI scale, initial assessments, and rapid deterioration recognition
Establish IV access, initiate and monitor IV drips/infusions, and administer medications per orders
Conduct and interpret ECGs, monitor cardiac rhythms, and respond to arrhythmias; apply restraints when indicated
Participate in procedural sedation, resuscitation efforts, and patient transports by ambulance or to higher levels of care
Document patient data in Epic; manage medication dispensing via Pyxis; communicate clearly with the ED team and caregivers
Collaborate with telemedicine/telestroke resources as available; coordinate with ancillary services for comprehensive care
