This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) assignment in the Emergency Department (ER) located in Middlebury, Vermont. The contract is for 16–26 weeks, starting on 09/14/2026, with 3x12-hour Night shifts per week. The hospital is a 25-bed, rural critical access unit with Level IV trauma capabilities and telemedicine/Telestroke support. Typical ED staffing includes 3–4 RNs per shift, ED technicians, a charge nurse on-call, and one physician scheduled daily. The role involves providing direct patient care for a broad age range, performing various medical procedures, responding to critical events, documenting care in an electronic medical record (Epic), and supporting specialty testing. The nurse-patient ratio is approximately 1:4, and ED charge responsibilities may be assigned. The position requires the ability to work night shifts, including rotating schedules, holidays, and potentially every other weekend. Floating to other units is not expected as the ED has dedicated RN coverage.
