About The Position

This is a Travel Registered Nurse position for a Medical-Surgical unit in Atlanta, GA. The assignment is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/08/2026. The role involves providing direct patient care to adult surgical and trauma patients on a high-acuity medical-surgical unit within a hospital setting. The nurse will be responsible for assessments, monitoring, documentation, medication administration, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team. Experience with the EPIC electronic medical record system is required. The unit utilizes available resources such as phlebotomy, nursing support techs, and a night unit secretary to optimize patient care delivery. Adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and patient ratio requirements (approximately 5:1) is expected.

Requirements

  • Active RN license (state-specific or equivalent) or eligibility to practice as an RN
  • BLS certification required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a surgical/trauma or high-acuity medical-surgical specialty
  • Ability to work night shift and the 2x3 schedule; no RTO requests
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to collaborate with ED and admitting colleagues

  • ACLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to adult surgical and trauma patients on a med-surg unit, including assessment, monitoring, and documentation
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and manage ongoing therapies; respond to clinical changes with timely interventions
  • Conduct routine nursing duties (vital signs, wound care, drain management, discharge planning) and coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team
  • Document thoroughly in the EPIC EMR; participate in handoffs between ED and admitting unit as patients transition
  • Communicate with patients and families, ensuring safety, comfort, and education within a high-acuity setting
  • Utilize available unit resources (phlebotomy on unit; nursing support techs; night unit secretary) to optimize patient flow and care delivery
  • Maintain adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and patient ratio requirements (approximately 5:1 on this unit)
