About The Position
This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in Medical-Surgical care in Hilo, Hawaii. The contract is for 15 weeks, with a shift of 12-hour days (0645–1915). The role involves float coverage across Medical Unit, Surgical Acute (Laulima-style) units, and occasional Cardiovascular care. Orientation is provided, and arrival the Thursday before the start date is required for employee health processing.
Requirements
- Active Hawaii Registered Nurse license by start of assignment
- BLS required
- 2 to 10 years of RN experience in medical-surgical or related units
- Ability to float to other units and work in a fast-paced hospital setting
- Availability for 12-hour day shifts and orientation participation

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to adult patients on medical-surgical units
- Assess, monitor, and document patient status; administer medications and care plans per unit protocol
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and discharge planning
- Float between Medical Unit, Surgical Acute (Laulima-style) unit, and, on occasion, Cardiovascular Unit as needed
- Utilize Meditech EMR, Pyxis, and associated equipment; manage wound vacs and chest tubes as applicable
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and patient/family education throughout shifts
