About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical unit in Rochester, New York. The contract is for 17 weeks, starting on 09/14/2026. The unit specializes in orthopedic trauma, spine surgery, and other elective orthopedic diagnoses. The role emphasizes education and professional growth within a dynamic team environment. The position offers weekly pay ranging from $2,140 to $2,240, with 12-hour rotating shifts (Day/Evening/Night). Guaranteed hours are not fixed and may vary between 36 or 48 hours per week based on unit needs. The role requires flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and potentially be on-call as per unit requirements.

Requirements

• Active RN license in New York state
• Minimum 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience
• Orthopedic experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification
• ACLS (American Heart Association) certification
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed on the unit

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for adult medical-surgical patients, with emphasis on orthopedic trauma and spine surgery post-operative care.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, respond to changes in patient condition, and implement appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and ensure safe medication practices.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans; educate patients and families.
• Document using the electronic health record; ensure accuracy and compliance with hospital policies.
• Demonstrate effective communication, organization, and problem-solving within a fast-paced unit.
