About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse – Long-Term Care (LTC) assignment in Lewiston, Maine. The contract is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/14/2026. The shift is a 3x12 night shift (7:00 pm–7:30 am). The role is in a hospital setting with LTC-oriented care across dementia, transitional rehab, and long-term care environments. The position requires direct and indirect nursing care in a unit-based, home-like atmosphere. Orientation is up to 16 hours unpaid.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in the State of Maine or a compact RN license.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • 1–3 years of RN experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a diverse care team.
  • Flexibility to cover 24/7 needs and to float as required.
  • Candidate must reside outside of a 50-mile radius of the work location.
  • Ability to work in a hospital-based LTC environment and adapt to unit-specific routines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care to residents in dementia care, short-term rehab, and long-term care settings.
  • Administer medications and treatments per care plans; perform IV therapy and wound care as needed; participate in geriatric assessment and management.
  • Monitor resident status, document findings, and communicate changes to the care team to support timely care decisions.
  • Apply person-centered approaches using verbal and non-verbal communication to support residents with Alzheimer’s/dementia and related behaviors.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, uphold safety, and maintain a therapeutic environment; assist with care planning and discharge planning when applicable.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to float to other units as needed and adhere to policy, clinical standards, and patient safety guidelines.
