About The Position
This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) Long-Term Care (LTC) assignment in Lewiston, Maine. The contract is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/14/2026. The position involves working day shifts, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, for three 12-hour days per week. The work setting is hospital-based units, including Alzheimer’s/dementia care, transitional rehabilitation, and long-term care. The RN may be required to float to other units as needed. Orientation for this assignment is unpaid and lasts up to 16 hours. This is a temporary travel assignment.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Maine or a compact state
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- 1–3 years of prior RN experience
- Medical terminology preferred
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities
- Ability to work in a hospital-based LTC environment
- Flexibility to cover 24/7 shifts and float as needed
- Must reside outside of a 50-mile radius of the assignment location
- Candidates with licensure hits will not be considered
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to residents on assigned units (including 3 East, a dementia-focused 31-bed unit; Transitional Rehabilitation Unit on the second floor; and 3 West, a 42-bed long-term care unit)
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor vitals, administer medications, manage IV therapy and wound care, and support geriatric assessment and management
- Collaborate with LPN partners and interdisciplinary care team; document care, progress notes, and care plans in the chart; ensure continuity of care
- Monitor for changes in resident condition, respond promptly, escalate as needed, and uphold safety and infection control standards
- Communicate with residents and families; provide education and discharge planning support as appropriate
- Maintain flexibility to float to other units as needed and adapt to 12-hour day shift coverage
