Travel Registered Nurse L&D Job
About The Position
This is a travel, temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery in Bakersfield, California. The assignment begins on 09/28/2026 and lasts for 13 weeks. The role is in an inpatient care environment supporting obstetric admissions and newborn care. The nurse will provide direct nursing care, assess patients, monitor labor and postpartum progress, administer medications, and coordinate care with the obstetric and neonatal teams. Responsibilities also include maintaining patient safety, accurate documentation, managing emergencies, communicating with families, supporting delivery preparation, and ensuring continuity of care.
Requirements
- Active California RN license in good standing
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- ACLS certification or eligibility as appropriate for obstetric care
- Willingness to participate in a 13-week travel assignment beginning 09/28/2026
- Willingness to work night shifts in an inpatient care setting

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to obstetric patients and newborns according to the nursing process and established standards.
- Assess maternal and fetal status, monitor labor and postpartum patients, and administer medications as ordered.
- Coordinate care with obstetric and neonatal teams; supervise and direct the activities of licensed and unlicensed staff as appropriate.
- Maintain patient safety, perform accurate documentation, and manage emergencies with critical thinking and independent judgment.
- Communicate with patients’ families, support delivery preparation, and ensure continuity of care across disciplines.
