About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at a Short Term Acute Care Hospital in Templeton, California. The contract duration is 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/14/2026. The role involves planning and providing nursing care for obstetric patients throughout their perinatal journey, managing emergencies, and educating patients and families. The position requires a minimum of two years of recent Labor & Delivery experience and proficiency with the EPIC electronic medical record system. The role will initially operate on day shift during onboarding and transition to night shift (1900–0730).

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S./A.N.), or equivalent required
  • Current RN license in the state of practice (California) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course required
  • Minimum of two years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
  • EPIC electronic medical record experience required
  • Must be able to work in a Labor & Delivery unit (LDRP model) and participate in a rotating schedule
  • Willingness to support transition from day shift to night shift during onboarding

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • AHA/ARC-ALS and AHA/NRP credentials preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide nursing care for obstetric patients and their families across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including management of emergencies and circulating for C-sections
  • Lead and supervise ancillary staff within the nursing team, delegating tasks commensurate with scope of practice
  • Recognize and manage perinatal emergencies (e.g., crash C-section, precipitous delivery, shoulder dystocia) and monitor fetal and maternal status
  • Assess fetal well-being, amniotic fluid status, vaginal bleeding, and respond to abnormalities; administer and adjust pain control as appropriate
  • Assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor patient status during and after medication administration
  • Educate patients and families about perinatal and postpartum care, using age- and culture-appropriate methods
  • Complete legible, accurate, and timely documentation of nursing care in the patient record, including evaluation of response to interventions
