This travel-nurse assignment is for a 13-week term in a short-term acute care facility with L&D services. The setting focuses on obstetric care, labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum support. Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of practice (California)
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • One-year recent acute care RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring course required on hire and every two years for experienced nurses
  • AHA/ARC BLS and ACLS; AHA/ARC NRP credentials as applicable
  • EPIC EMR experience
  • LDRP model experience or knowledge

  • This position is night-shift, no-call preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care for laboring obstetric patients: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Monitor maternal vitals and fetal status; interpret fetal heart tracing; respond to changes and escalate as needed; assist with labor analgesia and delivery.
  • Collaborate with obstetric providers and multidisciplinary team; coordinate patient care and delegate tasks to qualified team members.
  • Document care in the electronic medical record (EPIC); maintain accurate, timely charting and communication of care plans.
  • Support families with education, emotional support, and preparation for delivery and postpartum recovery; assist with cesarean deliveries as needed.
  • Adhere to professional standards, hospital policies, regulatory requirements, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives; engage in shared governance as applicable.
