About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in Labor and Delivery at a short-term acute care hospital in Templeton, California. The contract duration is 18 weeks, with a start date of 09/21/2026. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including managing emergencies and assisting with C-sections. The nurse will also supervise ancillary staff, monitor patient status, manage pain control, educate patients and families, and maintain thorough documentation. Experience with EPIC electronic health records is required, and the ability to work a 3x12 night shift schedule is essential.

Requirements

  • Valid RN license in the state of practice (California)
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
  • Minimum two years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Current AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required
  • Ability to work the night shift schedule (3x12 hours) as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including emergency situations and circulating for C-sections.
  • Supervise and delegate nursing tasks to ancillary staff in line with scope of practice.
  • Assess fetal and maternal status, monitor amniotic fluid, vaginal bleeding, and respond to perinatal emergencies (e.g., crash C-section, precipitous delivery, shoulder dystocia).
  • Manage pain control during labor and support alternative methods when appropriate; assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor status during and after administration.
  • Educate patients and families across all perinatal stages, tailoring teaching to age, condition, culture, and learning readiness.
  • Complete thorough, legible documentation of care provided and patient response; collaborate with multidisciplinary team to implement and adjust care plans.
