About The Position

This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse, Charge Acute Care in San Luis Obispo, CA. The role is in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital setting and involves providing unit-based leadership, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring high-quality patient care. The assignment starts on 09/14/2026 and offers a night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse license in California
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
5+ years of clinical nursing experience
2+ years supervisory/charge nurse experience required
Charge nurse experience is required
BLS required
NRP and ACLS/ALCS required
AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS required
AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS required
Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) required
AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring within last 2 years required
EPIC electronic health record experience required
Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care setting and to lead a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

Provide unit-based leadership, collaborating with the Nurse Manager, Director, physicians, and staff to deliver safe, high-quality care.
Supervise and direct nursing and ancillary personnel; coordinate care plans and initiate team conferences to revise care plans as needed.
Direct and monitor patient care activities to ensure safety, quality, and efficient workflow; participate in direct patient care when required.
Conduct rounds to assess patient needs, engage with patients and families, and solicit feedback to improve the patient experience.
Develop and implement strategies with leadership to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes; support quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record and maintain continuity of care across shifts.
