About The Position

This is a travel, temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse, Charge Acute Care specialty, located in Geneva, New York. The assignment is for a 22-week contract in a short-term acute care hospital setting, specifically within the emergency department. The role involves a rotating shift and focuses on providing patient- and family-centered care in an acute care environment.

Requirements

  • Current, active NYS Registered Nurse licensure
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI)
  • Minimum two years of acute hospital RN experience, including at least one year in an ED environment
  • Ability to work in a high-volume ED with rotating day/night shifts and on-call requirements (2 on-call shifts in 4 weeks)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered care across all ages

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients upon arrival, participate in triage, and determine priorities for care per ED standards.
  • Provide direct nursing care in the emergency department, including administration of treatments, monitoring, and procedures appropriate to life-threatening and routine emergencies.
  • Conduct primary and secondary patient assessments, reassess responses to treatment, and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, communicate effectively with patients and families, and teach self-care and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, uphold infection prevention practices, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the ED stay.
