About The Position

This is a travel, temporary assignment for an Occupational Therapist in Acute Care, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The assignment is for 13 weeks and begins on 09/07/2026. The role is based in a skilled nursing facility and focuses on supporting adults with acute care-related rehabilitation needs. The position offers guaranteed hours and a daytime shift.

Requirements

• Active occupational therapy license in good standing (state-specific licensure required or eligibility to obtain NM licensure).
• NBCOT certification preferred/maintained.
• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical OT experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a skilled nursing facility environment and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
• Agencies must have a New Mexico caregiver account to participate in this assignment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing occupational therapy evaluations to determine patient needs and goals in an acute care context.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at improving activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, and upper-extremity function.
• Provide evidence-based, goal-directed therapy and monitor progress, adjusting plans as needed to optimize outcomes.
• Document patient progress accurately in the electronic health record and communicate findings to the interdisciplinary care team; participate in care planning and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety strategies, and caregiver training to support continued recovery after discharge.
• Ensure adherence to facility policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocols throughout all therapy activities.
