About The Position

This is a travel occupational therapist position for an acute care assignment in Templeton, California. The assignment is for 13 weeks, starting on October 26, 2026, with guaranteed 36 hours per week on a 5x8 day shift schedule. The work setting is an inpatient, short-term acute care hospital. The role involves planning and conducting occupational therapy treatment programs to restore and improve patient functions, serving as a co-leader in an interdisciplinary patient care approach. Responsibilities include performing evaluations, establishing individualized treatment plans, selecting therapeutic techniques and tools, providing interventions using evidence-based methods tailored to acute care patients, developing and communicating care and discharge plans, completing accurate clinical documentation, and supervising assigned OT assistants. The position also requires participation in quality and safety initiatives.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD); required; acceptable for licensure if obtained after January 2007 or with foreign equivalent.
Current Occupational Therapy licensure in the state of practice (California) required.
CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required; facility policy requires BLS.
Two years of occupational therapy experience preferred; inpatient acute care and ICU experience strongly preferred.
Ability to work in an inpatient short-term acute care setting.
Current BLS certification.
Eligible for state licensure.
Must meet all health and safety requirements for a hospitalized patient setting.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct segments of occupational therapy treatment programs to restore and improve physical, social, and mental functions; serve as a co-leader in an interdisciplinary patient care approach.
Perform comprehensive OT evaluations and establish individualized treatment plans; select appropriate therapeutic techniques and tools.
Provide therapy interventions using established protocols and evidence-based methods; tailor plans to acute care patients.
Develop and communicate individualized care and discharge plans to patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team; coordinate with other services as needed.
Complete accurate clinical documentation within established deadlines; monitor and adjust progress toward goals.
Supervise assigned OT assistants and participate in quality and safety initiatives as required.
