This position sells travel agency products and services and provides travel-related member entitlement services to members and non-members. The Travel Consultant supports sales goals and service quality by advising clients on travel options, requirements, protection plans, and trip advisories; researching and comparing supplier rates; and recommending travel based on clients’ desired experiences, budgets, and needs. The role handles multiple transaction types, including air, car, hotel, rail, cruise, and tour arrangements, and is trained to complete requests without handing them off to other staff. It also supports member value through education about additional products and services, cross-selling, outbound calls, and participation in club social media programs as needed. The position requires accurate transaction processing and documentation, including payment handling, signature requirements, travel document reviews, and explanations of write-offs or shortages. Consultants maintain confidentiality of client and member information in accordance with applicable laws and company policies. They keep current on club products, preferred suppliers, travel industry trends, and reservation and accounting systems, while meeting service standards and administrative requirements. Consultants independently analyze cruise and tour packages, anticipate potential issues, resolve difficult situations when possible, and involve branch management when escalation is appropriate. The role may require educational trips for job knowledge, noted as 10% proficiency. Flexibility to work weekends and flexible hours, and to attend offsite training and events, is essential.
