About The Position

AAA Travel Consultants sell and recommend domestic and international travel experiences, drawing on personal travel experience, education, and ongoing learning to tailor trips to members’ expectations. The role combines sales, customer service, relationship building, and administrative work in a fast-paced environment. Consultants may develop toward future leadership opportunities based on evaluations of their sales, service, operational, and goal-achievement skills. AAA provides training through The Auto Club University and a Travel Consultant Trainee program; successful completion of the trainee program is required and involves some travel for training.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Pass a comprehensive criminal background check and urine-sample drug screening.
Passion for travel and interest in continuous learning.
Strong sales drive and ability to exceed goals.
Organizational skills and attention to detail, including comfort with paperwork.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency navigating computers, multiple systems and web browsers, and Microsoft Office.
Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Availability to work most Saturdays and some evenings.
Successful completion of the Travel Consultant Trainee program, which requires some travel for training.

Nice To Haves

At least two years of successful retail sales or banking experience, or experience in a leisure travel agency, preferably in a goal-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Sell international and domestic travel packages, including cruises, land packages, itineraries, air, car, and hotel arrangements.
Share travel knowledge and expertise gained through personal experience and/or educational study trips.
Build long-standing relationships with members and generate referral and repeat business.
Recommend travel options tailored to members’ expectations and designed to exceed their expectations.
Cross-sell relevant products, including the AAA Member Rewards Credit Card, and identify theft referrals.
Participate in training and evaluations covering sales, customer service, administration, operations, up-selling, cross-selling, and goal achievement.
Work toward established sales and production goals.
