About The Position

The Travel Consultant sells domestic and international travel products and packages, including cruises, land packages, itineraries, air, car, and hotel. The role builds lasting relationships with members, develops repeat and referral business, and recommends travel options tailored to members’ expectations. Consultants also cross-sell relevant products to enhance the travel experience. The position offers extensive training through The Auto Club University, and may provide a path to future leadership opportunities based on demonstrated proficiency and evaluation results. Training for new Travel Consultant Trainees requires some travel.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Pass a comprehensive criminal background check and urine-sample drug screening.
Passion for travel.
Sales drive and motivation to exceed goals.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; comfort handling paperwork.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency navigating computers, multiple systems and web browsers, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Interest and ability to continuously learn.
Availability to work most Saturdays and some evenings.
Willingness to travel for training as part of the Travel Consultant Trainee program.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of successful retail sales or banking experience, or experience in a leisure travel agency, preferably in a goal-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Sell international and domestic travel packages, including cruises, land packages, travel itineraries, air, car, and hotel.
Share knowledge and expertise gained through personal experiences and/or educational study trips.
Develop long-standing relationships with members and build referral and repeat business.
Make recommendations to tailor the trip experience to members’ expectations and exceed those expectations.
Cross-sell relevant products, such as the AAA Member Rewards Credit Card, and identify theft referrals.
Work toward sales and other established production goals.
