The Travel Advisor sells travel agency products and services and provides travel-related member entitlement services to members and non-members. The role supports sales goals and service quality while educating members about additional products and services, cultivating new and repeat business, and making outbound calls as needed. Advisors are trained to handle multiple transactions without transferring customers to other staff or departments. The position provides recommendations for domestic and international travel, including researching and comparing supplier rates and assessing clients’ requested experiences, budgets, and needs. Advisors handle reservations and ticketing for air, car, hotel, and rail travel; sell cruise, tour, and travel-related products; advise on travel requirements and protection plans; and issue international driving permits and passport photos. The work requires accurate transaction processing and documentation, careful handling of payments and travel documents, and protection of confidential client and member information. Travel Advisors maintain product and systems expertise, meet sales and service-quality objectives, identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities, and provide leads to other departments. They independently analyze cruise and tour options, anticipate and resolve service problems, escalate matters to branch management when appropriate, and document decisions and any write-offs or shortages. The role also entails administrative duties, scheduled training and activities, and may require educational trips for job knowledge.
