About The Position

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is seeking a motivated individual to join their Shady maintenance crew as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator. This role involves assisting with emergencies, patrolling for hazards, and ensuring efficient and safe planning and execution of maintenance activities. The coordinator will work closely with the maintenance manager, support crews with necessary resources, and handle administrative tasks such as invoice processing, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance. Requirements

  • Three years of maintenance or construction experience in roadway, highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge, or landscape.
  • CDL-A Required: Employee will be required to use a commercial motor vehicle to conduct business. You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions to be considered eligible for this position.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire.
  • A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position.
  • This position requires a maximum 30 minute response time to 3339 Old Highway 99 S., Roseburg, OR 97471 for emergency call-outs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize, schedule and assign work including scheduling night and weekend shifts.
  • Ensure crews have the resources needed to complete their work including the right quantities of materials and equipment for projects.
  • Review and approve time records, overtime, vacation, sick time and other leave requests.
  • Help with the hiring and selection process and provide recommendations to management.
  • Train employees on operating a variety of heavy and light equipment safely.
  • Review the work of crews and provide input to the maintenance manager on employee performance.
  • Assist the maintenance manager with short and long-range planning and budget preparation.
  • Patrol highways and structures looking for crashes, hazards and damages, and respond to emergencies.
