About The Position

Eagle County Government is seeking a dedicated Transit Service Writer to serve as the liaison between Fleet Services and Core Transit regarding their vehicle maintenance and repair needs. In this pivotal role, your daily work directly keeps local public transportation moving safely throughout the Eagle River Valley. Salary range: $29.71 - $41.59 Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am–5pm. Flexible work arrangements may be available. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automotive repair facility or service advisor/writer role (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to translate non-technical driver descriptions into accurate, clear technical language for mechanics and supervisors.
  • Strong computer skills, point-of-sale proficiency, and experience managing digital work orders and records.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a technical training program with ASE Certifications in Automotive, Medium/Heavy Truck, or Transit Bus.
  • Hands-on experience with FASTER (CCG) fleet management software and New World Systems financial software.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage a multi-tasking workload and meet strict deadlines under pressure.
  • Patient disposition with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to handle customer grievances and collaborate across departments.
  • Skilled at organizing resources, handling frequent interruptions, and exercising independent judgment within established guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact between Fleet Services and Core Transit personnel regarding vehicle maintenance, repair scheduling, and operational priorities.
  • Utilize FASTER fleet management software to schedule service appointments, create and process work orders, track job progress, calculate charges, and process payments.
  • Convey critical details regarding repair scopes, costs, and parts requirements directly to the Transit Supervisor.
  • Address customer questions throughout the repair process, contact departments promptly regarding additional necessary work or extra costs, and manage complaints, returns, and service grievances with tact.
  • Perform occasional light repairs or initial diagnostic evaluations while maintaining 100% adherence to safety procedures and county standards.
