The Transfer Specialist is responsible for the care, removal, and transport of deceased individuals. The role collaborates with other team members to maintain compliance with processes and procedures, safely and courteously drives company-owned vehicles, and keeps those vehicles clean. A professional appearance and business suit are required when interacting with families; casual attire is used for vehicle maintenance. The role performs first-call transfers, follows chain-of-custody, paperwork, and identification procedures, and cooperates with first responders, coroners, hospital staff, and senior living facilities. For home transfers, the specialist interacts sensitively and professionally with bereaved families, follows procedures for transferring soiled garments or other materials, and aims to leave a warm, courteous first impression. The specialist enters event information into proprietary software, transports and assists with moving caskets, and handles vehicle cleaning, fueling, supplies, safety, and maintenance needs. The position requires local and/or multiple-location travel, potentially up to 100% in a company vehicle. Work may take place indoors or outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions. Scheduling must support business needs, including nights, weekends, holidays, on-call rotations, and work beyond standard hours as needed. Physical demands include frequent standing, climbing stairs, and lifting, pushing, or pulling loads.
