About The Position

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is expanding home visiting services to improve maternal and child health well-being. The New Family Home Visits (NFHV) program aims to match families with appropriate evidence-based home visiting models and connect them to necessary resources. This program addresses racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic inequities that lead to disparate health outcomes, particularly during the prenatal and postpartum periods. NFHV also focuses on mental health and chronic disease, including screening for conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and maternal depression, with referrals to services. The program seeks a candidate with leadership qualities who can inspire, influence, and enable others to achieve mission and program goals.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in developing public health education programs (identifying target populations, conducting needs assessments, designing educational materials, planning presentations/workshops, evaluating programs), presenting public health education programs, and/or counseling in areas such as communicable diseases, substance abuse, assault, sexual abuse, and/or family planning.
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health education, education, public/community health administration, public administration, or business administration and one year of full-time satisfactory experience as described above.
• For Assignment Level II: Two additional years of full-time satisfactory experience (total of four years with a baccalaureate, or two years with a master's).
• For Assignment Level III: Three additional years of full-time satisfactory experience (total of five years with a baccalaureate, or three years with a master's), with at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal partners to design, develop, and offer training and technical assistance curriculum, materials, and protocols focused on best practices, evidence-based, and evidence-informed programs.
• Conduct research on community resources, and be responsible for planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and assessment of community home visiting program models.
• Ensure program model fidelity and professional development through technical assistance and training in program implementation, covering topics such as maternal child health, breastfeeding, early childhood development, and home visiting program models.
• Support special projects within the New Family Home Visits Program and perform other duties related to training, resource coordination, protocol implementation, technical assistance, and information dissemination on community services, resources, and programs.
• Review program plans and make recommendations for the development of policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Provide interpretation of complex issues to bridge evidence-based/informed practices and service coordination for the NFHV Program.
• Prepare reports, maintain records, and support evaluation activities, including designing pre/posttest tools, data collection, and analysis of process, content, and outcome measures.
