About The Position

The Training Retailer provides friendly, attentive service to guests throughout their visit and supports retail and dining-room operations at Le Pain Quotidien. The role includes preparing drinks, packaging food and pastries for takeout, processing sales, maintaining pastry displays, and staying knowledgeable about menu and retail items. The Training Retailer also completes opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures, keeps restaurant areas clean and organized, and answers the phone and takes orders. Guest concerns should be handled with empathy and elevated to a manager when needed.

Requirements

1 to 3 months of related restaurant experience or training.
Ability to speak, read, and understand the primary language or languages of the work location.

Nice To Haves

Experience with POS systems, especially Toast.
Flexibility in schedule is highly preferred but not required.
Ability to be cross-trained in all areas of the dining room and retail space.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and attentive service to guests throughout their visit.
Anticipate guest needs and note preferences they share.
Prepare drinks for retail and the dining room, including batches for the retail counter.
Bag, box, and arrange to-go food and pastries properly.
Perform sales transactions in accordance with Le Pain Quotidien cash-handling policy.
Maintain and consolidate the pastry display throughout the day.
Maintain full knowledge of pastry, bread, kitchen, beverage, and retail items.
Handle guest situations with genuine empathy and elevate them to a manager as necessary.
Complete opening, mid, and closing procedures, daily checklists, and side-work assignments.
Keep restaurant areas clean and organized by following cleaning checklists.
Answer the phone with proper etiquette and take orders over the phone.
