About The Position

Le Pain Quotidien is hiring a Retailer to support a warm, welcoming restaurant environment and provide attentive hospitality to guests. The role involves serving guests throughout their visit, preparing drinks and retail orders, handling sales transactions, maintaining pastry displays, and keeping restaurant areas clean and organized. Retailers also answer the phone, take orders, and complete opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures. Team members may be cross-trained across the dining room and retail space.

Requirements

• 1 to 3 months of related restaurant experience or training.
• Ability to speak, read, and understand the primary language(s) of the work location.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with POS systems, especially Toast.
• Flexibility in schedule is highly preferred but not required.
• Ability to be cross-trained in all areas of the dining room and retail space.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and attentive service to guests throughout their visit.
• Anticipate guest needs and note preferences shared by guests.
• Prepare drinks for retail and the dining room, including batches for the retail counter.
• Bag, box, and arrange to-go food and pastry orders.
• Process sales transactions according to the company’s cash handling policy.
• Maintain and consolidate the pastry display throughout the day.
• Maintain knowledge of pastry, bread, kitchen, beverage, and retail items.
• Handle guest situations empathetically and refer them to a manager when necessary.
• Complete opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures, daily checklists, and side work assignments.
• Keep restaurant areas clean and organized by following cleaning checklists.
• Answer the phone using proper etiquette and take orders over the phone.
