About The Position

The Tonga Room Host works in a tropical, festive restaurant at Fairmont San Francisco serving Pan-Asian cuisine with live entertainment, dancing, and a rain-storm feature. The host reports to the Tonga Room Manager and provides professional, friendly, and engaging service while assisting guests with food and beverage information and supporting outlet operations. The hourly rate is $35.99 USD gross per hour.

Requirements

• Previous service experience is an asset.
• Previous Point of Sale System experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• Highly responsible and reliable.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous.
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift and/or carry items such as dockets, ledgers, and small tools.
• Ability to occasionally kneel, push, and pull.
• Ability to occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, and ramps.

Responsibilities

• Offer guests a consistently professional, friendly greeting and engaging service.
• Understand the Server’s tasks in the outlet.
• Understand shift-end reports and the outlet’s POS system.
• Assist guests with food and beverage menu items in an informative and helpful way.
• Know menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods.
• Follow outlet policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Follow safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
