About The Position

The Tonga Room Host works in the Tonga Room at Fairmont San Francisco, a restaurant serving Pan-Asian cuisine in a tropical setting with live entertainment, dancing, and a rain storm. Reporting to the Tonga Room Manager, the Host provides professional, friendly greetings and engaging service, assists guests with food and beverage menu information, and follows outlet service, safety, and sanitation standards. The role also involves understanding the Server’s tasks, shift-end reports, and the outlet’s POS system, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous service experience is an asset.
• Previous Point of Sale System experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• Highly responsible and reliable.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous.
• Constant standing and walking throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting and/or carrying of items such as dockets, ledgers, and small tools.
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.

Responsibilities

• Offer guests a professional, friendly greeting and engaging service.
• Understand the Server’s tasks in the outlet.
• Understand shift-end reports and the outlet’s POS system.
• Assist guests with food and beverage menu items in an informative and helpful way.
• Know menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods.
• Follow outlet policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Follow safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
