About The Position

The Title Clerk handles the legal transfer of documents on customers’ behalf between the dealership and the Department of Motor Vehicles. The role processes vehicle registrations and title documents, verifies funds have been collected, and ensures title work is submitted accurately and on time. The clerk maintains a complete list of outstanding title work and stays current on county and state title regulations.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working in a busy office environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills.
• Team-oriented and comfortable working in an open office setting.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must pass pre-employment background and drug screens.

Nice To Haves

• Previous automotive Title Clerk experience preferred.
• Automotive accounting or CDK experience is a plus.
• Active Notary Public certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Examine contracts to ensure they conform to specified requirements.
• Process new vehicles for registration in the state where they will be titled.
• Prepare tax and title documents.
• Submit legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Verify that funds have been collected before processing title applications.
• Process paperwork in a timely manner.
• Maintain a complete list of outstanding title work.
• Stay current on county and state title regulation requirements.
• Understand deadlines and apply an appropriate sense of urgency to tasks.
• Perform other duties as determined by management.
