About The Position

AWARE is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Service Technician to support adults, children, and families in becoming active and vital members of their communities while focusing on personal growth. The role supports clients through recreational activities and interventions that promote positive lifestyle skills. The position requires working independently in an assigned location or region and traveling to clients or service areas using a personal or AWARE vehicle. The technician collaborates with the Therapeutic Recreation Program Director (TRPD) and treatment team, documents intervention outcomes in the EHR, and provides client information to the TRPD during transitions or discharge.

Requirements

High school diploma or HSE.
Past employment experience.
Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Montana driver's license.
Acceptable driving record.
Acceptable criminal and protective services background check.

Responsibilities

Work independently in an assigned location or region.
Travel via personal vehicle or AWARE vehicle to clients or service areas.
Lead and instruct participants in gaining life skills.
Plan and lead recreational activities.
Implement interventions that account for client age, cultural background, developmental stage, disabling-condition limitations, skill level, and experience.
Role-model positive lifestyle skills by demonstrating and engaging in activities alongside clients.
Assist the TRPD in creating intervention protocols that include short-term goals and assignment criteria.
Observe client responses to interventions and communicate and collaborate verbally with the TRPD and treatment team members.
Document intervention outcomes in the EHR according to policy to provide evidence for evaluation of the therapeutic recreation program's effectiveness.
Provide the TRPD with client information to assist in formulating a transition or discharge plan.
