About The Position

AWARE is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Service Technician to support adults, children, and families in becoming active members of their communities and achieving personal growth. The role involves planning and leading recreational activities and life-skills instruction, implementing interventions suited to each client, and collaborating with the Therapeutic Recreation Program Director (TRPD) and treatment team. The technician documents intervention outcomes in the EHR and provides client information to the TRPD to support transition or discharge planning. The position is based in Butte, Montana, and requires travel to clients or service areas using a personal or AWARE vehicle. Starting pay is $19.00–$23.59 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or HSE.
Past employment experience.
Have or be willing to obtain a valid Montana Driver’s License.
Acceptable driving record.
Acceptable criminal and protective services background check.

Responsibilities

Work independently in an assigned location or region.
Travel by personal vehicle or AWARE vehicle to clients or service areas.
Lead and instruct participants in gaining life skills.
Plan and lead recreational activities.
Implement interventions that account for clients’ age, cultural background, developmental stage, disability-related limitations, skills, and experience.
Model positive lifestyle skills by demonstrating and participating in activities alongside clients.
Assist the TRPD in creating intervention protocols with short-term goals and assignment criteria.
Observe client responses to interventions and communicate and collaborate with the TRPD and treatment team members.
Document intervention outcomes in the EHR according to policy to support evaluation of the therapeutic recreation program.
Provide client information to the TRPD at transition or discharge to assist with transition or discharge planning.
