About The Position

AWARE is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Service Technician to support adults, children, and families in becoming active members of their communities while developing personal growth and positive lifestyle skills. The role involves planning and leading recreational activities, supporting clients as they practice life skills, and implementing interventions suited to each client’s age, cultural background, developmental stage, abilities, and experience. The technician works independently in an assigned location or region and collaborates with the Therapeutic Recreation Program Director (TRPD) and treatment team. The position is based in Missoula, Montana, and pays $19.00–$23.59 per hour to start.

Requirements

High school diploma or HSE.
Past employment experience.
Have or be willing to obtain a valid Montana driver’s license.
Acceptable driving record.
Acceptable criminal and protective services background check.

Responsibilities

Work independently in an assigned location or region.
Travel by personal or AWARE vehicle to clients or service areas.
Lead and instruct participants in gaining life skills.
Plan and lead recreational activities.
Implement interventions sensitive to clients’ age, cultural background, developmental stage, disabling conditions, skills, and experience.
Demonstrate and participate in activities alongside clients to promote positive lifestyle skills.
Assist the TRPD in creating intervention protocols that include short-term goals and assignment criteria.
Observe client responses to interventions and communicate and collaborate with the TRPD and treatment team members.
Document intervention outcomes in the EHR according to policy to support the TRPD’s evaluation of program effectiveness.
Provide the TRPD with client information at transition or discharge to help formulate a transition or discharge plan.
