About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking a Temporary Meter Reader in Grand Junction, Colorado. The role reads residential and commercial gas and electric meters and records information using a handheld computer system. The position involves communicating with customers, reporting irregularities and hazardous conditions, and working safely as part of a team. It requires approximately 10–12 miles of fast-paced walking each day, entering customer premises, and working across varied terrain and in inclement weather. The temporary role may lead to permanent benefited employment after the first six months.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to walk 10–12 miles per day.
• Previous customer service experience.
• High level of accuracy and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Valid driver's license.
• Safety consciousness.
• Flexibility to work across varied terrain and in inclement weather.
