Meter Reader
About The Position
The Meter Reader accurately reads and transcribes information from metered propane gas systems throughout multiple PepUp districts. The position reads and records customer propane meters to help determine usage, using a handheld computer or another collection device, and completes assigned routes and work orders on the assigned date. The role operates in a professional office environment as well as in the field. Office work uses standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets; office noise can be loud. Field work may involve occasional exposure to fumes, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations, as well as consistent exposure to extreme weather conditions throughout the year. Physical activities include occasional sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, pulling, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 25 pounds. The role requires the vision abilities needed for close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusting focus.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to walk approximately 5 to 8 or more miles per day.
- Good customer relations.
- Positive, upbeat attitude.

Responsibilities
- Read and record customer propane meters to help determine usage, using a handheld computer or another collection device.
- Complete assigned routes and work orders on the assigned date.
- Wear assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and request replacements when necessary.
- Follow safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Identify hazards or unsafe conditions at meter sites and report them.
- Show courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
