About The Position

The Teller provides quality member service by accepting and accurately processing counter transactions and meeting established sales referral goals for Credit Union products. The role completes members’ transactions with accuracy, timeliness, courtesy, confidentiality, and professionalism; meets referral goals assigned by the Branch Manager; and supports branch operations by opening and closing the branch, maintaining accounts, and managing cash.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• Sales or referral experience with proven results.
• Honesty and integrity.
• Basic math knowledge.
• Working knowledge of a ten-key calculator, computer keyboard, and computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and the Internet.
• Ability to interact with members positively and professionally.
• Strong commitment to quality customer service and enjoyment of dealing with a wide variety of people.
• Knowledge of Credit Union products and services.
• Ability to engage members in conversations to increase product penetration.
• Self-motivation and demonstrated referral skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Problem-solving, results orientation, time management, ability to deal with ambiguity, courage, interpersonal savvy, customer focus, integrity and trust, self-development, and business acumen.
• Ability to analyze member accounts, understand banking regulations and Credit Union systems and procedures, work under pressure, concentrate in a multitasking environment, solve problems, maintain a positive attitude and professional image, and empathize with members.
• Ability to stand for long periods and move throughout the Credit Union; manual dexterity for handling cash and using branch equipment; and ability to lift 50 pounds when handling coin bags.
• Ability to travel to branches within the region.

• At least one year of cash-handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete members’ transactions at the teller window accurately, promptly, courteously, confidentially, and professionally.
• Meet established sales referral goals assigned by the Branch Manager.
• Open and close the branch and perform general account maintenance.
• Maintain and balance the cash drawer; operate the cash dispense machine; buy and sell cash to the vault; verify cash; and keep cash orderly.
