About The Position

Mercantile Bank is hiring a full-time Float Teller based at its Lowell branch, providing coverage to the Lowell, Ionia, and Belding markets. The role is onsite and requires travel to support other branches in the area. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Float Teller prepares their station and reviews branch updates, greets customers in person and by phone, and processes transactions while maintaining attention to accuracy and fraud prevention. The role also involves identifying customer needs, making appropriate referrals, promoting self-service options, supporting concierge/Live ATM services if applicable, and helping customers set appointments. The teller coordinates with teammates on daily branch tasks, completes required training, stays current on product updates, and balances their cash drawer at the end of the day.

Requirements

Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
Accurate cash-handling and data-entry/typing skills.
Ability to prioritize and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
A personal mobile device is required for system sign-in and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and check cashing according to established procedures.
Maintain and balance a cash drawer daily.
Use 360 View to identify customer needs, pursue cross-sell opportunities, and make appropriate referrals.
Promote self-service options, support concierge/Live ATM services if applicable, and assist with appointment setting.
Remain alert to fraud indicators and educate customers as needed.
Complete required training on time and follow applicable laws, regulations, and bank policies.
Prepare the teller station, log into systems, review branch updates, and help keep daily branch tasks on track.
Travel to support other branches in the area.
