Teller - Full-Time
About The Position
Mercantile Bank is hiring a full-time Teller for its Dexter Ionia branch. The role supports accurate, compliant, customer-centered branch service by providing transaction support and following policies and regulations that protect customers and the bank. The Teller prepares their station, signs into systems, and reviews branch updates. During the day, they greet customers in person and by phone, process transactions, stay alert to fraud indicators, and help customers identify appropriate next steps, including setting appointments or using self-service options. They coordinate with teammates, complete training, keep current on product updates, and reconcile and balance their cash drawer at the end of the day. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Requirements
- Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Accurate cash-handling skills.
- Data-entry and typing skills.
- Ability to prioritize and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
- A personal mobile device is required for system sign-in and emergency procedures.
Responsibilities
- Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and check cashing according to established procedures.
- Maintain and balance a cash drawer daily with strong attention to detail.
- Use 360 View to identify customer needs, pursue cross-sell opportunities, and make appropriate referrals.
- Promote self-service options, support concierge/Live ATM services when applicable, and assist with appointment setting.
- Remain alert to fraud indicators and educate customers as needed.
- Complete required training on time and follow applicable laws, regulations, and bank policies.
- Prepare the teller station, sign into systems, and review branch updates.
- Greet customers promptly in person and by phone, keeping lines moving while attending to detail.
- Coordinate with teammates on daily branch tasks and stay current on product updates.
- Reconcile and balance the drawer and help prepare the branch for the next business day.
