About The Position

The Teller conducts transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently while meeting or exceeding service quality standards. The position safeguards assigned bank assets and contributes to bank growth by promoting and cross-selling bank products and services. The Teller may also cross-train to open basic new consumer accounts and may be required to work at an alternative location within the region or market. The role requires adherence to bank policies, procedures, account-protection limits, and assigned compliance training. The employee must maintain a positive, friendly, and professional attitude and appearance, follow the work schedule, and remain alert and work safely. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on-the-job education in a specific skill area.
0–6 months of related experience and/or training.
Cash-handling experience in a business environment.
Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using money and other forms of measurement.
Basic 10-key skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions in person-to-person and small-group situations.
Ability to follow simple multi-step instructions and handle standardized situations with limited variables.
Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds, including lifting coin bags up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform the physical activities described, including standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as applicable.
Close vision for computer, equipment, and other work duties requiring clear vision within two feet or less.
Ability to maintain a positive, friendly, and professional attitude and appearance.
Flexibility to work an assigned schedule and, if required, at an alternative location within the region or market.

Responsibilities

Receive and pay out cash; handle negotiable items, loan payments, deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
Set up, close, and balance the teller station.
Record sales of monetary instruments.
Assist customers with inquiries in person or by telephone.
Maintain a neat and well-stocked teller area.
Cross-sell bank products and services.
Follow established limits to protect customer accounts and support bank safety and soundness.
Adhere to bank policies and procedures.
Assist with balancing the vault, ATM, night drop, and coin machine.
Assist with proper scanning of bank documents and proof work.
Exercise judgment when applying holds and making check-cashing decisions.
Cross-train to be available to open basic new consumer accounts.
Adhere to the work schedule and maintain flexibility in availability.
Maintain a positive, friendly, and professional attitude and appearance.
Work at an alternative location within the region or market when required.
Maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely.
Complete required BSA/AML and other assigned compliance training.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
