About The Position

Koniag Integration Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Technical Writer to support KINS and its customers. This in-office position is based in Warren, Michigan. The Technical Writer organizes, plans, and develops technical writing for military programs, particularly in logistics engineering, maintenance, and validation and verification activities. The role interfaces with clients on technical manual (TM) and logistics engineering issues under the direction of the Technical Writing Project Lead. The position involves producing technical manual procedures that meet applicable military standards and quality requirements, submitting art requests and procedures on schedule, and validating and verifying mechanical and diagnostic processes on equipment. The role may also include providing technical guidance to less experienced writers. The work takes place in a busy shop environment and requires accessing heavy construction and military land vehicles, using vehicle repair equipment and tools, and traveling up to 25%.

Requirements

Accredited bachelor's degree or at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in technical writing and logistics engineering.
Strong communication, leadership, technical writing, and logistics engineering skills.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and other engineering or technical documentation.
Mechanical ability in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance and diagnostics.
Exceptional attention to detail in engineering data, technical descriptions, diagrams, and procedures.
Ability to support projects with minimal supervision, multitask, and prioritize.
Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, FrameMaker, Arbortext, and SGML/XML.
Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with all organizational levels and customer personnel.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and interact effectively with organizational levels and customer personnel.
Ability to pass background screening.
Dependable attendance.
Ability to climb, bend, and access all areas of heavy construction and military land vehicles while maintaining three points of contact when climbing on equipment.
Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds without assistance and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
Ability to work safely in a busy shop environment with crane, forklift, and heavy equipment operation and movement.
Ability to operate power and hand tools, hydraulic and manual jacks, and other vehicle repair equipment.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person status.

Responsibilities

Follow technical writing procedures and established plans to meet program schedules, quality guidelines, and objectives.
Develop technical writing for military programs in logistics engineering, maintenance, and validation and verification activities.
Interface with clients on technical manual and logistics engineering issues under the direction of the Technical Writing Project Lead.
Assist less experienced Technical Writers with program objectives and provide technical guidance, as needed.
Apply MIL-STD and quality requirements to technical manual procedures.
Prepare and submit art requests and technical manual procedures in time to meet internal deadlines.
Validate and verify mechanical and diagnostic processes on equipment in accordance with established procedures and schedules.
Consistently meet program and quality objectives for technical data products.
Follow written or provided technical writing development processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
